Awards 2014 overview

For the first edition of the PackTheFuture Award , ELIPSO and IK , professional bodies of plastic and flexible packaging in France and Germany had agreed to meet with industry professionals in Düsseldorf at the Interpack Fair 2014.

As emphasized by Dominique-Paul VALLEE during his kDominique-Paul VALLEE ELIPSOeynote speech at the awards ceremony : « This contest aims to promote creative and innovative potential of the plastic and flexible packaging sector , part of a process of sustainable development, to provide users with new solutions for efficient packaging , aesthetic and environmentally friendly. »

Following the first selections made by a pre- jury , a jury of professionals , journalists, NGO representatives , scientists, teachers, designers and packaging experts met in April 2014 to select the winners.
Thus, twelve products of twelve member companies of the professional bodies ELIPSO and IK have been awarded the first Awards in plastic packaging.

Each company could compete in one or more of the following categories :

Category : ECODESIGN

(recyclability, source reduction, weight reduction) – an environmentally-friendly innovation throughout the product’s lifecycle , through the choice of raw materials , its manufacture and its transport , its functionality , its end of life, etc.

Category : PRODUCT PROTECTION

an innovation that improves protection of contents from filling through to end user.
For example : extension of “best-before” date, no or fewer preservatives, anti-waste features, user safety, etc.

Category : SOCIETAL BENEFIT

An innovation that meets the new consumption trends and habits of today’s users and customers, or the new consumption modes of target groups such as children, the elderly, families and local authorities.
